This is the question every couple asks in their first message, and it's a fair one. Dance lessons cost money and time, and nobody wants to book more than they need. So here's the honest answer, not the sales pitch: most couples need somewhere between three and ten lessons, and the right number depends on four things: your song, your current confidence, how much "wow" you want, and how many weeks you've actually got before the wedding.
The short version, by package
I've built our packages around exactly this question, so the fastest way to answer it is to match yourself to one of them:
- 3 lessons (The Essentials, £195): right for couples who want something simple, elegant and stress-free: a gentle sway, a few turns, nothing to memorise under pressure. Good if one or both of you are nervous about "performing".
- 6 lessons (The Classic, £360): our most popular package, and honestly the sweet spot for most couples. Enough time to build a full, proper routine with some personality in it, without turning your evenings into rehearsals for months.
- 10 lessons (The Showstopper, £550): for couples who want a genuine "how did they learn that" moment: multiple styles combined, sharper technique, a routine built to hold up under a room full of phone cameras.
- 6 × 2-hour lessons (Premium Intensive, £650): the fast-track option. Same depth as the Showstopper, compressed into three to four weeks for couples who left it late or have a packed calendar.
If you've already had lessons with us before, or just need a refresher close to the day, a single Top-Up Session (£75) is usually all it takes.
What actually decides the number
Your song. A slow, simple ballad with a steady beat needs far less choreography time than a song with tempo changes or a big key change halfway through. I've written more on that in why your song choice matters more than you think.
Your starting point. If neither of you has danced before, that's genuinely not a problem. It often makes the first few lessons more straightforward, because there are no habits to unlearn. More on that in "I have genuinely never danced in my life."
How much you want to do. A simple box step and a couple of turns is achievable in three lessons. A routine with lifts, formation changes, or multiple style transitions realistically needs six to ten.
Your timeline. Ideally we start eight to twelve weeks out, at a steady one-lesson-a-week pace, which gives the choreography time to become muscle memory rather than something you're still thinking through on the night. If you're closer than that, the Premium Intensive package exists for exactly this reason.
What it actually costs
Full pricing lives on our Packages & Pricing page, but as a quick reference: packages currently start at £195 for three lessons and run up to £650 for the fast-tracked ten-lesson equivalent. There's no hidden cost for using the studio, and add-ons like a venue walkthrough or a final run-through recording are optional extras you choose only if you want them.
My honest recommendation
If you're not sure, start with a free 15-minute consultation. I'll ask about your song, your venue, and how confident you're both feeling, and recommend the package that actually fits, not the biggest one. Most couples who come in expecting to need ten lessons are pleasantly surprised to find six does the job.
